I decided this morning after a chat with a local member to take the duck to the vet, just for the peace of mind if nothing else. Not only did the vet say I'm doing everything correctly, she said he's just fine apart from a few grazes and a possible skin condition! She also does wildlife consults for free :)
So ... we have a clever duck! He's getting better in leaps and bounds, and today even gave a few quiet quacks when I went near him. I was worried when I first came into doing this that the release would be hard and emotional, but I'm the complete opposite at the moment - I'm really looking forward to releasing him. Sooking is still an option though right?
